La Merde is an unexpected comedy written and Directed by Ben Adam-Harris based on a true story. When Ben from Broken Antler got in touch to ask if we’d like to get involved with a short film project, we firstly laughed out loud at his idea and then jumped at the chance of being on board.
Currently playing at a number of UK and international film festivals, we were blown away to win Best Short Comedy at Isle of Man Film Festival.
Ben and Kevin received their award from Mr Mark Kermode.
The production of La Merde started back in the summer of 2016. We knew that to make the film work we needed to cast someone very special. Thankfully we had the help from Belinda Norcliffe Casting and were super fortunate to stumble across the very talented Eva-Jane Willis, who was a perfect fit. We were also very lucky to have a great production team including DOP Jeremy Hewson who used his experience to realise the look that Ben was after. Sound was taken care of by Mark Keshishian, our Camera Assistant Jonathan Boyd, Focus Chris Pollitt and Production Assistant Joe Peacock. The whole team was fantastic and we couldn’t have made it without them.
La Merde was shot on an Amira and Canon Cine Primes with filming complete in just one day.
Post Production was under the wing of Mother Brown Films with the edit at our studios. Musically we were very lucky to bring onboard the talented music composer Grant Olding. Grading was also done in house at MBF with Jack Kibbey Newman behind the wheels of Divinci. And the final piece of the jigsaw was left in the capable hands of Richard Lewis at Pindrop who mixed the sound.
La Merde has gained UK distribution with Premium Films.
