La Merde is a ridiculous comedy written and Directed by Ben Adam-Harris based on a true story that is currently playing at a number of film festivals in the UK & abroad.
We were blown away that it won best short comedy at Isle of Man Film Festival.
Ben and Kevin were presented the award by Mr Mark Kermode.
It’s always so important to work on projects of your own and when Broken Antler got in touch to see if we’d like to get involved with a short film project, we firstly laughed out loud at the idea and then fully embraced getting involved.
La merde was born and the production of the film started back in the summer of 2016 and things initially progressed quite quickly. We knew that in order to make the film work we needed to cast someone very special. Thankfully we had the help from Belinda Norcliffe Casting and we were very fortunate to stumble across the very talented Eva-Jane Willis who was a perfect fit. We were also very lucky to have DOP Jeremy Hewson come on board who really pushed the look of what Ben was after. Sound was looked after by Mark Keshishian, Camera assistant Jonathan Boyd, focus Chris Pollitt, Production assistant Joe Peacock. The whole production team were fantastic and we couldn’t of made it without them.
We shot on an Amira and Canon Cine Primes completing the filming in one day.
Post Production started quickly but soon slowed down as we all got busy making other films. Once we picked up speed again we finalised the edit at Mother Brown studios and then were very lucky to bring a great music composer onboard Grant Olding. Grading was also done in house at MBF with the talented Jack Kibbey Newman behind the wheels of Divinci. The final piece of the jigsaw was left in the capable hands of Richard Lewis at Pindrop who mixed the sound.
The film has gained distribution with Premium Films.
